A November 2026 release date is making the rounds. Before you request the day off work, here's where the claim comes from — and how much it's actually worth.

Here's the claim: The 1975 will release DOGS in November 2026. It has been circulating since spring, pushed along primarily by high-follower fan update accounts on X, and it has hardened — the way these things do — from "reportedly" into something fans repeat as settled fact. It is not settled fact. So let's do what the Rumor Mill exists to do and take it apart properly.

The case for

  • The math works. The albums exist — Healy confirmed two finished records back in December. A near-year of runway between that confirmation and a November drop is a completely normal major-label timeline for a rollout of this scale.
  • November is their month. The band has history with autumn and pre-holiday releases and announcements; the fourth quarter is prime real estate for a marquee record, and few British bands are more marquee right now.
  • The silence is ripening. Manager Jamie Oborne's stated position has been that the record ships when it's right. A year-plus after those comments, "right" has to be approaching.

The case against

  • No primary source. Nothing from the band, Dirty Hit, or any outlet with sourcing standards attaches a date to DOGS. The trail dead-ends at fan accounts, which — with love — have called roughly forty of the band's last two release dates.
  • No machinery in motion. Major releases cast shadows: registrations, retail listings, single rollouts, tour scaffolding. As of this writing, none of the usual advance signals have surfaced, and no 2026 tour dates are on the books.
  • This band does not do predictable. Ask anyone who waited through the Notes on a Conditional Form era, when release dates moved like weather. If any act would skip November precisely because everyone expects November, it's this one.

What would change our rating

Watch for the boring stuff, because the boring stuff is how truth announces itself: a lead single with a date attached, retail and vinyl pre-order listings, festival or tour announcements that imply an album underneath them, or reporting from outlets that put their name on sourcing. Any one of those moves this from "plausible" to "likely." Until then, November 2026 is a good guess wearing a press release's clothes.
